2012 Japan Wrap up from Andy Mahre and the Nimbus Crew

Words and Photos from Andy Mahre

Japan has come and gone. It started out as a trip that seemed endless. We got to ski tons of powder, but after two weeks, it had already flown by. Now I’m back home, and winter is somewhat back in the northwest. The mountains have powder, and my driveway is a mud pit. It’s easy to guess which of the two I prefer…Mud pit of course.

With Benchetler out of the group due to injury, there were three of us left to scuff the duff. We skied avalanche barriers, rode snowmobiles, hit cliffs and hit jumps. The sights were all breathtaking and we finished our trip with a nice freeski day in the previously tracked powder. It was still plenty deep and tons of fun.
My stay at home is short lived as I am off to Montana for more duff scuffage, and fun times. Bring on the snow.
