Summer Skiing Is Prime
Every summer, Northern Hemisphere skiers who do not migrate to the southern half of our planet to chase winter find themselves making laps on the glacier. Mt Hood, Whistler, Woodward, and many ski fields in Europe all offer fantastic turns and terrain park for those who refuse to keep the ski gear tucked away all summer long in the basement or garage.
The summer of ’18 is officially on, and many of our pros are making appearances on glaciers around the globe. Some are coaching. Some are just cruising. Keep reading to find out who is where this summer and how to sharpen your skillset by lapping with some of the best in the biz.
Windell’s Ski Camp – Mt. Hood, Oregon
Maggie Voisin – Session 3 (July 6 – 13)
Maggie won her first X-Games gold medal last January, and her skiing is as on point as its ever been. She routinely goes bigger and spins smoother than those who have been skiing longer than her, and her style is as good as it gets in slope style skiing.
Collin Collins – Session 2 and 3 (July 1 – 14)
Collin isn’t coaching at camp this year, but he always stops in for a couple weeks to cruise the lane and keep his jump game on point. A Sun Valley local who knows what’s good, Collin is about as nice a human there is and is always down to offer up a couple pointers and throw down when it’s time to show how it’s done.
Momentum Ski Camp – Whistler, Canada
Anna Segal – All Summer (June 9 – July 17)
Anna basically runs the show up at Whistler/Blackcomb during the summer. Even with her obligations to email and other desk duties, you can find Anna on snow every week hitting the big booters and hanging with the crew and coaches on hill. Anna is the best, and her skiing isn’t too shabby either.
Joss Christensen – Session 4 + 5 (July 2 – 17)
Joss’s resume speaks for itself. Joss scooped up a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics at the ripe old age of 22, and has been leaving his mark on freestyle skiing ever since. He’s been battling back from a knee injury a couple seasons ago and is back to 100% and couldn’t be more stoked to be hanging out in Canada next month.
Jake Carney – Session 4 (July 2 – 10)
Jake’s freestyle and rail game is nuts. He is one of the most fun kids to ski with day in and day out and is one of the most technical skiers on the glacier this summer. Catch his session in early July.
Woodward at Copper – Copper Mtn. CO
Brooke Potter – All Summer (July 9 – August 4)
Brooke has been coaching at Woodward for the past couple summers, and is locked in again all summer long just up I-70 in Summit County. With a full indoor facility in addition to the on-hill park, just a session at Woodward can up your progression by more than you ever thought possible.
